Located a short fifteen minute drive from the Hardin County seat, Radcliff, Kentucky is a rapidly developing community. From its original beginnings in 1919, Radcliff real estate has experienced consistent growth. During the 1930's, Fort Knox expanded and enveloped the surrounding towns of Stithon and New Stithon. The encroachment of the base on these towns caused numerous businesses and residents to choose Radcliff real estate. The city was officially incorporated in 1959.

The new community was named after Major William Radcliff, head of the Quartermaster Corps at the newly founded Camp Henry Knox. In 1955, enough funds were acquired to finance the construction of the Hardin County Water District and today the Water District is the principal source of fresh water for Hardin County. During the same year, the Radcliff Fire Department and the Radcliff Civic Club were established. The following year, the city was incorporated as a 6th-Class city and the Radcliff Police Department was formed. Because of the ever-changing military population, Radcliff has seen drastic population growth in the last fifty years. In 1960 the population was estimated at 3,381. Now Radcliff proudly boasts a population of 23,113.

Shopping and Dining
Radcliff has all the amenities of a modern city with plenty of outlets for shopping that include several national chain stores; such as Walmart Super Center, Payless Shoes, Cato Fashions, Hibbett Sports and more.  Also, small business is alive and well with locally owned retail stores that specialize in everything from clothing and jewelry to upscale gifts and home accessories.  .   The Red Brick Cottage  has a collection of gifts and accessories for every room in the home including candles, glassware, and kitchen accessories. Red Hill Cutlery offers shoppers a selection of fine cutlery from top-named companies, as well as knives and sharpening implements.  True Value Hardware on North Dixie Blvd (US 31W) and Basham Lumber Company can handle small engine repair and a variety of home improvement projects.  Specialty shops include a Latino grocery store and an Oriental food store.

The city of Elizabethtown is only a short fifteen minute trip and provides other shopping opportunities for residents of and visitors to Radcliff. Local stores there offer plenty of off-beat options.  Towne Mall offers a wide selection of national retailers and local retailers as well as a children’s play area. 

Radcliff offers numerous options for dining including national or regional favorites like Applebee's, Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken, Colton's Steakhouse, and Waffle House. Local favorites cover a variety of different cuisines sure to please. Miguel’s Mexican Restaurant and El Camino Mexican Restaurant offer authentic Mexican food with family-friendly atmospheres. Radcliff also offers authentic German cuisine with Gasthaus Deutsche Ecke, and Caroline's Alpine HausWoohoo It’s Greek Food offers gyros, spanakopita, and dolma.   Christie’s Café offers traditional American fare from hamburgers to fried chicken breast. Also available are family owned eateries that range from Chinese to Korean cuisine and more!

Parks and Recreation
Radcliff is located near multiple public facilities - both free and fee for usage. The Colvin Community Center has meeting and conference rooms available for rent. The Center also includes two lighted tennis courts, lighted outdoor regulation basketball courts, and a playground. The Radcliff City Pool is an Olympic-sized pool with a water slide, kiddie pool, fountains, slides, concessions and showers for users' convenience. Dawley Park and Duvall Park offer soccer, football, softball, baseball and T-ball fields as well. Nature enthusiasts will find Saunders Springs Nature Preserve to be a pleasant surprise. The Preserve provides opportunities for nature study, hiking, and picnicking.

Living
Radcliff is located on US-31W approximately twelve miles northwest of the Hardin County seat, Elizabethtown. Its location provides a quieter life than one might find in Elizabethtown, but with all the amenities and extra conveniences.  The average home price in Radcliff is $112,000. Thirty-two percent of Radcliff's residents work in sales or office settings, while the next most popular career field is in service businesses.  Radcliff is home to a large population of retired military that were stationed at Fort Knox Army base and choose to remain in the area for a wide range of reasons from central location within the US to climate, affordable cost of living and friendly atmosphere.

 

Schools, Health, Transportation
Education options in Radcliff consist of four public elementary schools, one middle school, and two high schools, North Hardin High School and John Hardin High School.  Visit the Hardin County School  District website for more informationNorth Hardin Christian School, run by Radcliff's Fellowship Independent Baptist Church, gives residents a private school option and serves grades K-12.  In nearby Elizabethtown there are two colleges that allow further educational advancements: Elizabethtown Community and Technical College and an extended campus of Western Kentucky University.

Residents have access to a variety of medical specialty clinics in Radcliff, including family care, behavioral health, pediatrics, dentistry, and optometry. Many other specialty clinics are in nearby Elizabethtown.  For emergency services, residents are served by the Hardin Memorial Hospital.

For those traveling to and from Radcliff, U.S. 31W runs through town, and state highways 1815, 144 and 1500 are nearby.  Highway 313, also known as Joe Prather highway, links Radcliff to I-65 and allows easy access to Louisville, Nashville and more.
